A home environment where an animal is getting individual love and attention is far more preferable than a kennel environment. Ideally we would like a fostered animal to stay in the placement until a forever home is found. However, we know this isn't always possible. Short-term foster placements give the animals a welcome break from kennels and allow their true personalities to shine through.
Fostering with Tameside Animal Shelter
To become one of our foster homes you have to go through a similar process you would if you were adopting an animal from us for example, having a home-check. However, we do need firm commitment so our dogs get a fair chance to settle. We will provide food for the animal you foster and cover all vet bills although we ask you use our preferred vet.
Placing an Animal
Each animal will have different requirements and abilities in areas such as being left or exercise. We consider this when placing an animal with you. Some animals come directly from their homes so we can match them into a suitable foster home straight away and avoid them going into kennels. This helps to retain and, often improve, their skills further.
All Animals Deserve a Chance
Please keep in mind that although all our animals are cute and furry some may have challenging behaviours. All our animals deserve an equal chance at being placed in a foster care home so it is possible that you could have an animal with challenging behaviour placed with you. It is also possible that you could have an animal placed with you that has no behaviour issues at all.
